Artists Statement
The Peacock as India’s national bird traditionally has a role as a protector which symbolises prosperity, royalty, fertility, love and joy. Buddhism, is a large part of the Indian culture and something I’m interested in, I was inspired by the quotation;

“We are shaped by our thoughts, we become what we think, when the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves” (563 BC – 483 BC) Buddha

Within a home an area for relaxing and unwinding from the modern way of life is something many people find they need in order to escape from a busy lifestyle. Taking a deeper insight into the Indian culture and studying the beauty of the Peacock inspired the use of paisley, ikat, exotic patterns and birds, natural fabrics and a bohemian colour palate of blues, purples, reds, oranges and neutrals, all add to the meditative atmosphere.
